EXHIBITION: Virginia Jaramillo: Principle of Equivalence Opens at MCA Chicago
Through January 5, 2025, Virginia Jaramillo: Principle of Equivalence is on view at MCA Chicago. This exhibition is the first major retrospective and largest monographic exhibition to date of the work of Virginia Jaramillo (b. 1939, El Paso, TX; lives in Hampton Bays, NY). Principle of Equivalence traces the artist’s practice from mid-1960s through the present, featuring more than 40 abstract paintings and handmade paper works that reveal her long-standing preoccupation with the relationships between the earthly and metaphysical realms.

At the 2024 Art Curators Conference in San Francisco Erin Dziedzic led the panel Sustaining the Visible, discussing projects giving visibility to historically excluded artists from the Americas and addressing future initiatives. Panelists included David Castillo, Anna Stothart, and Valéria Piccoli.
