EXHIBITION: Alexandria Smith: in this here place, we flesh  

In her debut of new work at David Castillo, New York–based artist Alexandria Smith carries the legacy of Surrealism forward, blending dream logic with symbolism, metaphor, and entwined forms of body and landscape. She remixes inherited iconography and collages elements intuitively, highlighting hybridity and duality. Through myth, biography, collective memory, and history, Smith challenges binaries and reveals the layered complexities of human experience. ​ 

EXHIBITION: ​Seeing the World: Selections from the Gautreaux Collection

At the Peninsula Chicago coinciding with EXPO Chicago, Seeing the World, was a compelling contemporary group exhibition featuring a curated selection from the Bill and Christy Gautreaux Collection, Kansas City, Missouri. This exhibition showcased a diverse range of works by artists from around the globe, offering an inspiring exploration of contemporary perspectives.

ARCHIVING: Adam Cvijanovic

Development of a comprehensive archive database and website for Brooklyn-based artist Adam Cvijanovic, designed to preserve, organize, and make accessible his extensive body of work. The project integrates scholarly rigor with a dynamic digital platform, ensuring both long-term stewardship and public engagement with the artist’s practice.

​​CONVERSATION: with Celeste Rapone​   

Led a conversation with Chicago-based artist Celeste Rapone at Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York on the occasion of her solo exhibition Some Weather.

Curator: BOMB Magazine Auction 

Curated a selection of works by Aliza Nisenbaum, Pepe Mar, Lucia Vidales, and Candida Alvarez for the BOMB 43rd Anniversary Gala & Art Auction. 

JUROR: 2025 21c St. Louis Artadia Awardee  

The Award decision was reached after an extensive two-tiered jurying process conducted by Erin Dziedzic, Independent Curator, and Diya Vij, Curator, Creative Time. This year’s finalists for the Award included Juan William Chávez and Damon Davis. All three finalists held virtual studio visits with the juror panel. The 2025 awardee is Jen Everett.

PROJECT: The Virginia Jaramillo Catalogue Raisonné Project – Coming Soon! 

Established in 2024, this long-term project is dedicated to researching and documenting the full range of Virginia Jaramillo’s work—including her paintings, works on paper, and handmade paper pieces. The project will culminate in a comprehensive publication that offers the first complete account of her over six-decades-long career. 

EXCITED TO SEE: The Atrium Project: 10 Years, 10 Stories

In 2016, I developed Kemper Museum’s Atrium Project, a series of commissioned installations by Latinx and Hispanic artists. The initiative has brought major new works into the Museum’s collection while offering artists a platform for ambitious, site-responsive projects. Over the first nine years, commissions by José Lerma, Firelei Báez, Paul Henry Ramirez, Angel Otero, Joiri Minaya, Aliza Nisenbaum, Pepe Mar, Sarah Zapata, and Lucía Vidales were presented, with the next commission debuting in January 2026.
